Thomas F. Connaughton | Founder
Thomas F. Connaughton brings more than 27 years of product safety, certification and regulatory compliance experience to manufacturers navigating the complexities of bringing products to market.
Tom founded Connaughton Group in 2017 after an 18½-year career with Intertek, where he began in electrical engineering and progressed through engineering, operations management and global business leadership roles. He concluded his career with Intertek as Global Director of Life Safety & Security, Hazardous Locations and HVACR, with responsibility for global business development, approvals and laboratory accreditations across multiple international markets.
For the past nine years, Connaughton Group has provided independent product safety and regulatory compliance consulting to manufacturers across a broad range of industries, including industrial equipment, lighting, household appliances, information technology, laboratory equipment, food service equipment, life safety and security, automation, and other electrical and electronic products.
Tom's experience spans product safety and regulatory strategy, code and standards interpretation, preliminary product design reviews, certification project management, technical documentation, laboratory sourcing and coordination, global market access and regulatory compliance planning.
Throughout his career, Tom has also worked with industry associations, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), testing and certification organizations, and manufacturers to develop practical solutions to complex product compliance challenges.
His philosophy remains straightforward: make product compliance easier to understand, identify potential problems early, and help manufacturers navigate the most efficient path to market.
